Whether you’re ready or not, Christmas is coming! What better place to celebrate the holiday season than at Walt Disney World® in Orlando. See the theme park dressed up in its holiday best with incredible decor, themed foods and tons of holiday spirit. All your favorite characters and rides get a Christmas makeover too, bursting with all the fun and excitement of Christmas morning.

Here’s our Ultimate Walt Disney World® Christmas Guide to help you plan your Christmas trip:

When to Visit

For 2019, Disney® experts predict that November 10-16 will be the best time to visit the parks for the holidays. Epcot® and some of the resorts may not be decorated by then, but you’ll still get the full holiday experience everywhere else. Thanksgiving is a week later this year, so November 17-23 may also have lower crowds. Up until December 14, crowds are expected to be moderate.

On some nights during November and December, Magic Kingdom® Park closes at 6 p.m. for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. When there is a nighttime Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, if you have Park Hopper tickets, visit Magic Kingdom® Park during the day and visit another park at night.

Guests who visit at the end of October and early November may be surprised at how quickly the parks transition from Halloween to Christmas. Magic Kingdom® Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park are typically decorated by November 8. Epcot®, Disney Springs® and resort hotels generally have all their decorations up by Thanksgiving. Officially, Christmas events end December 31, but the decorations are typically kept up until after the Disney Marathon weekend, the second weekend of January.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The highlight of all the Christmas festivities, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is an after-hours event that takes place certain evenings in November and December. The party requires an additional ticket for each person.

During some days in December, Mickey’s Party is included in the price of a regular Magic Kingdom® Park ticket. This offers significant savings, since the tickets for the Christmas party can run up to $100 a person.

Highlights of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party:

  • Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: A winter spin on the classic Disney parade, Mickey’s Christmastime Parade features fun floats, spectacular lights and even snow! Frozen characters make a special appearance. From December 22 through New Years, the parade is part of the daytime Magic Kingdom® Park festivities and open to general admission guests.
  • Holiday Wishes: This fireworks show combines incredible music with show-stopping fireworks. The holiday songs featured will quickly become your favorites!
  • Rides and Attractions: Some of your favorite Magic Kingdom® Park rides are open during the party as well, complete with their own holiday decor. Rides that will be open include: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad®, Splash Mountain®, Dumbo The Flying Elephant®, “it’s a small world”®, Peter Pan’s Flight®, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Haunted Mansion® and Space Mountain®
  • Parties: From toddlers to teens, everyone will find a place to party!
