Disney Springs opens new Town Center

Walt Disney World, News, Shopping, Theme Parks

Central Florida shoppers and sightseers entered new territory Sunday: The Town Center section of Disney Springs opened to the public for the first time.

The debut of 23 stores and a handful of eateries mark the latest phase in the redevelopment of the longstanding Walt Disney World entertainment complex, which has had an emphasis on more stores, more restaurants and a comprehensive retheming from its Downtown Disney era.

Town Center was built in a parking lot that was adjacent to the now-closed nightclubs of Pleasure Island.

“We weren’t expecting it to be this big. I guess since they had it closed off we didn’t know what was going on,” said Arielle Rustmann of Winter Garden. “But It’s really nice. … We’re still exploring.
