New Decade, New Fun: What’s Happening at Walt Disney World Resort© in 2020

We’ve ushered in a new decade and Walt Disney World Resort® will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate 2020. If a trip to Walt Disney World Resort© is on your calendar this year, here’s what’s new for the first few months of 2020. If a trip isn’t in your plans, these fun events, attractions and activities may change your mind! Stay tuned for more information and for additional events being added as Disney© releases its 2020 calendar. 

Disney After Hours — Through May 2020

When most of the crowds are heading to bed, you can be enjoying extra hours at the parks with Disney After Hours. Offered at Magic Kingdom© Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, After Hours is open to guests after normal park hours. The hours at Magic Kingdom© Park run 10 pm to 1 am and at Disney’s Animal Kingdom© Theme Park the hours are 9 pm to midnight. This event requires a separate ticket and is only available select nights through the end of May. 

Walt Disney World Marathon — January 8-12, 2020

Tie up your running shoes and get ready to run in one of the most fun races around. The Walt Disney World Marathon is more than just a 26.2-miler. The weekend includes the Walt Disney World 5K & 10K, the Walt Disney World Half Marathon and runDisney Kids Races. If you’re feeling extra trained, try your luck Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge, the half marathon on Saturday and the full on Sunday. The Dopey Challenge is for the truly dedicated—you run all four races over four days!

Epcot International Festival of the Arts — January 17-February 24, 2020

One of the highlights of the year at Epcot®, the International Festival of the Arts brings together artists from all genres. Guests can enjoy the visual, culinary and performing arts through exhibits, workshops, live shows and galleries. The festival brings in professional artists from each of the mediums, who offer seminars, meet and greets and signings. Most of the events are included in the price of Epcot® admission. 

Disney Princess Half Marathon — February 20-23, 2020

On the bucket list of many runners, the Disney Princess Half Marathon takes place at Magic Kingdom Park® and Epcot®. The weekend also includes a 5K, 10K and the Disney Fairy Tale Challenge, a combo of the 10K and half marathon. Take in the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo with fitness exhibitors and an interactive center offering complimentary yoga classes and more.

Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival — March 4-June 1, 2020

A feast for the eyes, the Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival includes over 100 topiaries. The screened butterfly house plays host to over 100 species of butterflies. While you enjoy the sights, indulge in incredible food dishes from the outdoor kitchens in the World Showcase. The festival also includes nightly music at America Gardens Theater.  

Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon Weekend — April 16-19, 2020

Not to be outdone, Star Wars fans get their own race time at the Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon. Your favorite Star Wars heroes and villains are on hand for the weekend of races including a 5K, 10K and the Rival Run Challenge, combining the 10K and half marathon.
