Arm Yourself for a Galactic Battle—Building Your Own Lightsabers at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in August 2019, Star Wars fans will finally have the chance to live out the movies they love and adore. The new attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios transports guests to the planet Batuu. While there, they can wander the alien markets, ride the Millenium Falcon and fight the First Order.

Before you head into battle, you’ll have the opportunity to build your own lightsaber. In Savi’s Workshop, you’re presented with a collection of deconstructed lightsaber parts. It’s important to choose wisely, as these parts make up the core of your custom lightsaber. Options include Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature and Protection and Defense.

Once you’ve chosen your core, the Gatherers explain the history of the lightsaber and then construction begins. Each guest selects a kyber crystal and a tray of parts. These parts—hilt, sleeves, emitters, pommel caps, activation plates and switches—come together into your very own lightsaber. Each warrior tests their lightsaber in a ceremony of dimmed light, letting the laser light cut through the darkness.

The whole experience costs $200. For many hard-core fans, being able to live out their Star Wars dreams is priceless.
